About

The Château de Perron, flanked by its two Gascon towers, dominates the Adour valley. Its vines extend over the hills that round above Madiran, at the northern end of the Hautes Pyrénées department. The lands of Perron were given to the Abbey of Madiran by Bernard d’Artagnan in 1100. They were then ceded by the monks to the Cropte family. Jean III de Cropte was installed in Perron in 1643. In the 15th century, Simon de Perron, his great-grandson, had the winery built and is at the origin of the current configuration of the buildings. This winery, unique to Madiran, dates from 1734 and has since undergone almost no modifications. The quality of the soil and the surrounding hillsides have contributed to the reputation of Château de Perron wines. .

Classified as national property during the Revolution, the inventory mentions, at the time, 50 hectares of vines. The Crouzet family took the reins of the farm in 1945 and began replanting. The vine having almost disappeared from the property following phylloxera and the war. In 2012, after her father and brother, Isabelle de Saint-Sernin took up the torch. Today, the vineyard, located exclusively in the commune of Madiran, has an area of ​​12 hectares.
