Château Bellefontaine
BEAUVOISIN , Gard
About
Château Bellefontaine, built near an artesian spring (hence the name given to the site a few years later), is a 50-hectare winegrowing estate, managed using organic methods.
Located in the south of France, between the Camargue and the Mediterranean Sea, Château Bellefontaine is in the commune of Beauvoisin, at the southern end of the Rhône Valley.
Historically, at the beginning of the 19th century, when vineyards reappeared in Costières, the tractor did not exist: people travelled on foot and used horses.
The vineyards of what was to become Bellefontaine were an “hour” away from the village, and making the round trip every day was not an option. The workers ate in a mazet built for them and their horses. The Château Bellefontaine was built near an artesian spring, hence the name given to the site a few years later.
