About
Madiran is well known for its vineyards and Bigorre for its specialities: the black pig of Bigorre, Tarbais beans, onions of Trébons… There is now the “organic mushroom of Madiran”.
The Madiran Mushroom is produced since November 2012 in the first organic button mushroom farm in France. Button mushrooms are generally white, while Madiran mushrooms are blond or brown, as in their origins. Firm, it gives off a particular aroma and flavour, due to the French technique of gobetage (a bed of crushed limestone and blond peat deposited on the compost). Picked by hand, it can therefore be presented whole for sale. It is managed by the ESAT of Madiran (medical-social establishment for adults in a difficult situation) .
The resumption of mushroom growing in Madiran is also a great human and social adventure. All the attention paid by the employees and supervisors of the ESAT to the conduct of this very specific culture is rewarded by the pleasure and our pride in offering a quality product that will delight your taste buds and delight your guests.
