About

The implantation of Muscat Saint Jean Minervois began at the end of the 16th century, initially on small plots. At the beginning of the 20th century, a dozen hectares of Muscat vines spread over the entire on the whole of the plateau already ensured an exceptional production. Under the impetus of the winegrower Edouard Jean, Muscat obtained its letters of nobility, consecrated in 1896 at the Montpellier competition by a distinction for a sweet wine of this variety. From then on, the winegrowers of the commune turned to the production of muscatel wine, which was rewarded with numerous medals at regional competitions. Today, the terroir is composed of 7 independent winegrowers’ estates and our cooperative cellar which alone ensures 75% of the production.
