The museum is particularly convivial, presenting its collections on the history of Toulouse in the preserved setting of 18thcentury salons whose charm will delight all lovers of an authentic atmosphere. Visitors will also appreciate the personalized welcome they receive from staff who care about their comfort and are ready to provide explanations tailored to their individual interests. The museum’s exterior setting is in itself singularly attractive. Just a stone’s throw from the Capitole, behind a classical brick façade, you’ll find a charming courtyard. This ensemble forms a superb Renaissance style mansion, with the polychromy typical of Toulouse architecture (red brick and marble or white stone). It was built in 1590 by Antoine Dumay, physician to Queen Marguerite de Valois. This quiet, unspoilt setting – listed as a historic monument – will delight lovers of the picturesque and the romantic alike.
