An unmissable stage after the free visit of the workshop, guided and commentated of the “Coutellerie (knife makers) de Laguiole Honoré Durand” workshop – a living space with the the Damascus steel blacksmith (the only blacksmith in Laguiole to forge Damascus steel).

The Museum offers an unusual, unguided tour on the theme of the old-fashioned forge. History of knives from their origins to today. From Monday to Friday you can watch the famous Damaskus blades (multi-layered steel) being forged. You’ll learn about the different knife-making trades, which are presented in the form of workshops of the time. There’s an exhibition of thousands of cutting tools and forged objects used in former trades. A unique exhibition of our collection of Laguiole knives from their origin. The monumental sculpture of the biggest Laguiole in the world: 10 tonnes, 6 metres high. The “Coutellerie de Laguiole Honoré Durand” can’t be seen from the road – you need to go 250m into the industrial estate.
