This park has existed since 1818 and owes its name to its role as a tree nursery. Under an agreement dating from 1860, the departmental tree nursery entrusted the land to the City on condition that it supply the trees for the department’s roads and open the site to the public. The nursery once stretched from the police station to Place de la Méditerranée. Not to be missed: the nursery, renovated between 1978 and 1979, now occupies just 10 per cent of its original area; a visual delight not to be missed during the ‘Saint-Martin summer’ when the park is decked out in its magnificent autumnal colours. American oaks, sweetgums and other species then recreate a sort of Indian summer. Dogs are not permitted, even on a lead, with the exception of guide dogs for the blind.
