Refuge du Fourcat

Ariège’s highest refuge, at 2,445 m. In a high-mountain setting, it lies in the cirque des étangs Fourcat, crowned by the peaks of Tristagne (2,878 m) and Malcaras (2,865 m). Located on the HRP, GR 10 and Tour des Trois Nations.

Accommodation: 37 people – 9 dormitories – comforters and pillows provided – bring your own sheet – comforter recommended in winter.

The refuge is open from late June to late September.
Not including caretaking: 11 places.

Facilities: common room; stove; wc; hot showers for a fee.
Services: catering; drinks; packed lunches.

The refuge is located close to the GR10, and is also a stage on the HRP (Haute Route Pyrénéenne) and the Trois Nations cross-border circuit.
Conventional access is via the Pradières-d’en-haut power station parking lot, and the Etang d’Izourt. Other access points include the Etang de Soulcem and Etangs Picot, or the Arcalis ski resort in Andorra.
From the refuge, many summits are within walking distance: Pic de Tristagne, Pic de Malcaras, Pic de l’étang Fourcat, Pic de l’Aspre, etc…
Whether you’re a fisherman or just a hiker, you can also enjoy the crystal-clear waters of the many lakes nearby: étangs Fourcat, étang de la Goueille, étangs de Petsiguer, étangs Picot, etc.
