Domaine Mas de Jallon is a 45-hectare family-owned estate located in the town of Fournès at the southernmost tip of the Rhône Valley. This location provides exceptional sunlight, which promotes vine growth and enables high-quality winemaking thanks to grapes bursting with aromas. The soil is also demanding, forcing the vines to be vigorous and robust due to its composition of clay-limestone marl as
well as rounded pebbles.

This terroir is therefore well-suited to allowing the grapes to ripen to their full potential, thanks in particular to the extensive root system that reaches deep into the soil in search of the minerals the vines need. It is in this spirit that Christophe Boudinaud, a third-generation winemaker, and his son Auguste, both nature lovers guided by respect for their terroir, naturally turned to organic farming in 2009 and then to biodynamic farming in 2016, with the goal of producing a high-quality wine that respects nature and harmonizes their passion with the environment.

In 2018, a winemaking facility was built on the estate, enabling them to process the harvest and produce the estate’s first bottles that year. Prior to that, winemaking took place at a cooperative winery in the town of Fournès; however, since that facility did not share the estate’s approach to production and marketing, this led to the creation of a private winery on the property. As a result, both crop cultivation and winemaking are now in line with the estate’s ethical principles.

Their ambition and belief in biodynamics were recognized at the 2019 Orange Wine Competition, where they won a gold medal and a silver medal, demonstrating that high-quality wine and biodynamic farming are indeed compatible.
