Borie de Maurel is now a major estate – 35 hectares of vineyards in production, in both garrigue and maquis scrubland -, everything has remained as it was on the first day. In Félines, Mondovino, international capital, the stock market… unknown: here, it is all in the family. Michel Escande and his eldest son Gabriel look after the vineyards and the cellars assisted by Paco Guiterrez Ortega, while his youngest son Maxime welcomes visitors to the estate and takes care of sales, marketing and management. At Borie de Maurel all the work involved in producing wine is of course done by hand, from ploughing to harvesting, the latter occurring as per tradition a fortnight or so after the usual dates, so the grapes are perfectly ripe.
