Saffron grower for 4 years, I work while respecting nature, in an artisanal and creative way: growing saffron in half barrels and vegetable plots to develop at home. I started growing red gold with saffron flowers in the artisanal saffron farm, Bulle de safran, in Hères and Jû-Belloc. Red gold is delicate and does not wait and although picking is tedious and painful, the color and smell are sublime! .

A small fragile flower worked by hand A flower that needs to be monitored and the work is exhausting. Everything is done manually, from harvesting, pruning and drying and, as a result, saffron stigma is expensive. Manual harvesting and pruning work contribute to this. It takes 200,000 flowers to obtain 1 kg of filaments and a good hour to pick 2,000 flowers and 5 hours to cut the filaments by hand. I also produce derived products: saffron world salts, saffron syrup, saffron mustard and, soon, saffron jam. Everything is organic (even without the label). Recipes developed with natural products and the know-how acquired in cooking at the Ferrandi school in Paris. The products can of course be found at the safranière but also at trade shows, fairs, markets and festive events. MEET AT THE FARM: Guided tour of the farm by appointment.
