The craftswoman, Mme Bénezet, will tell you all about the history of the Arlésienne costume, the materials it’s made of and how it’s worn through the seasons. You’ll know everything there is to know about the Arlésienne costume.
You’ll learn how to embroider a costume piece by choosing your motif and designing your own embroidery! Once you’ve drawn your design, you can learn how to embroider it on fabric.
The fabric will be provided by the craftsman, and you’ll leave with your own creation.
Introduction to the craftswoman :
Mme Bénezet has been steeped in Camargue traditions since she was a child. She has been embroidering, styling and sewing since the age of 15. She owes this acquired know-how to her family, who have passed it on from mother to daughter for many years. So, in 2017, she decided to set up her own business in order to keep this knowledge alive, turning it into a profession-passion. In line with all this, she now wishes to expand her activities and offers workshops in embroidery of Arlésienne costume pieces, a passion she will be able to pass on to costuming customers as well as to those curious enough to discover the art of Arlésienne embroidery, and who will be able to keep these beautiful customs of the South of France alive!
