Camino de Santiago: Aumont Aubrac to Conques

AUMONT AUBRAC , Lozère – LA BALAGUERE

We love it

The pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is certainly one of the oldest and most authentic hikes of all time. The ” via Podiensis ” once led the pilgrims of Notre-Dame du Puy-en-Velay to the ultimate goal: Santiago de Compostela . The weight, both symbolic and historic, makes this path a classic. It begins in the country of Gévaudan , then leads to the lands of Aubrac , continues in the Lot valley , with the essential village of Conques , heading southwest and Pyrenees .

About

Between Gévaudan and Rouergue, the journey takes place in very contrasting landscapes. On the Aubrac plateau (oldest volcanic massif in Europe): altitude pastures offering bare landscapes dotted with beech forests between 1000 and 1400 meters above sea level. In the Lot valley: wooded landscapes (beech, oak and chestnut). Towards the end of the bocage and “Causse” landscape circuit (limestone plateau).
