VILLAGE & CHATEAU DE SAINTE-MERE

STE MERE , Gers – Cultural heritage

About

As you approach the village’s entrance, you can notice the gate-tower that also became the tower of the local church.

In the 13th century, the bishop Géraud de Monlezun (to whom we owe the major part of Lectoure’s cathedral) built a medieval fortress, yet another Gascon castle.

There is a great deal of examples still present today, but rare are those in this state of preservation. You can easily go around the castle.
Please contact the Tourism Office to visit the interior.
