At the source of the Sorgues in the middle of nature, family house built in 1380

Welcome to “La Momonde”

We hope that your stay at “La Momonde” will be as comfortable as possible. Here is some information and tips on how the house works.

Our family home was that of our father, nicknamed “Momond”. We named it “La Momonde” in his memory. This place was everything to him and it has become so to us. A place of peace in the middle of nature.

The central part of the house that corresponds to the kitchen is the oldest. It was built in 1380. It was attached to the “Château de Sorgues”, which adjoins it and probably housed its guards.

All authentic elements have been preserved. The most special element is related to the kitchen floor. The slabs are “rain stones”. They are the barometer of the house. When a layer of moisture forms on the ground and makes it shiny, it is a sign of rain in a few hours.

The basin in nature instead of the garden at the foot of the house is attached to the river “Merdan” in case of heavy rain on the Larzac plateau in autumn, winter or spring it can become in a few minutes a strong torrent that will flow into the river of the Sorgues

First of all, respect for the neighborhood and nature is paramount to us.

1/ IT IS FORBIDDEN TO LIGHT FIREPLACES, BREAD OVENS AND MAKE FIRES IN NATURE;

For safety reasons, the chimneys of the house are closed and the drain is closed. It is therefore completely impossible to try to use it

2/ WASTE DISPOSAL

Several bins in the house allow you to sort between food waste, glass and plastic and cardboard.

To evacuate them, there are several solutions:

On the road leading to the main road, a brown “household waste” bin is located in front of the fish farm, 400 metres from the house.

In the village of Cornus, specific bins for each type of waste will allow you to evacuate it.

3/ USE OF HOUSEHOLD EQUIPMENT

-MUSIC

To listen to music, there is a bluetooh terminal in the living room.

Turn on the amp and select in your bluetooth settings: WTX-500.

-TV

 Some of the TVs (living room and bedroom on the ground floor) are connected to a satellite dish and allow you to receive 32 French channels.

The TV in the bedroom of the second on the left is a smart TV, its operation is linked to the internet.

-WATER

 The water in the house is drinkable, it is of high quality and comes directly from the source of the Sorgues

The hot water is made from two hot water tanks, one for each bathroom. It is not provided in unlimited quantities. We thank you, also out of respect for water resources, to turn off the water while you soap up.

-FAUNA

A wide variety of birds and present around the house including rabbits, wild boar, squirrels and dormice. The latter, who are particularly intelligent and greedy, are used to running on rooftops and sometimes breaking into attics. They are in no way a danger to humans, but live at night, sometimes causing the sounds of nocturnal cavalcades.
