For a long time, Villefranche-de-Conflent was an outpost of the Kingdom of Aragon. The town boasts Vauban fortifications and as such, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Enter the fortified town via the Porte de France or the Porte d'Espagne. You'll enjoy strolling through Rue Saint-Jacques and Saint-Jean. The 13th and 14th century houses, clad in the pink marble of the Conflent region, often boast beautiful wrought-iron guild signs.
