L’Isle-Jourdain

On the Occitanie Rail Tour

Discover L’Isle-Jourdain

L’Isle-Jourdain is a pleasant stopover in the Save Valley. The town hall is clearly inspired by the Capitole in Toulouse, but without the columns.

In L'Isle-Jourdain, you will discover the home of Claude Augé, the founder of the well-known French dictionary “Petit Larousse Illustré”. Admire the glass roof, sculptures and especially its Art Nouveau stained glass windows, including one representing the famous Sower, based on a design by Eugène Grasset.

In L’Isle-Jourdain, you'll enjoy:

  • Going to market with the locals on Saturday morning
  • Exploring the surrounding area, from the town centre: 4 hiking or cycling trails
  • Ski-towing, paddle-boarding or pedal-boating on the lake. And if you want to swim, the swimming-pool is right next to the lake.
