Discover Caussade

Did you know? Caussade is France's hat making capital, with close to two thirds of the national production. Hats have been manufactured for over 200 years in this small Tarn-et-Garonne town and its beautiful white limestone houses, a sign that you are in the Quercy Blanc. The area is renowned for its AOP vineyard Coteaux du Quercy, as well as for its truffles. Therefore, from November to March, you'll find Quercy truffles in Caussade, at the Monday morning market.

In Caussade, you'll enjoy:

  • Learning the secrets of hat making with L'Épopée Chapelière (Hatmaker épic), an entertaining presentation at the Tourist Information Centre which retraces the history of the famous Caussade hats.
  • Taking a peak behind the scenes at Willy's Paris hat making workshop and leaving with your very own hat.
  • Strolling through the Monday morning market where locals, producers, artisans and rugby players mingle.
  • Exploring the Thouron Fountain underground, a fountain which supplied the village with water in the Middle Ages.
