Discover Aumont-Aubrac

At 1,000 meters, Aumont-Aubrac marks the crossroads between the Aubrac, Gévaudan and Margeride regions.

The village is famous for its major hiking trails that cross splendid landscapes, such as the GR65 (pilgrimage route towards Santiago de Compostela) and the Monts d'Aubrac circuit.

In Aumont-Aubrac, look out for the statue of the Gévaudan beast Place du Foirail, and then continue to the church and the stunning garden in Javols.

In Aumont-Aubrac, you'll enjoy:

  • Climbing the Truc Del Fabre, a hillock at the top of the Place du Foirail, for a panoramic view of the village.
  • Preparing a picnic with local produce bought in the village stores or at the Friday market.
  • Sampling the local Bleu d'Aumont cheese.
  • Hiking along the mythical GR65, the Puy trail, towards Nasbinals.
