At the foot of the Albères mountain range, where the Pyrenees plunge into the Mediterranean Sea, Argelès-sur-Mer is the camping capital of Europe. It boasts a rich natural environment with: 7 kilometres of sandy coastline (from Mas Larrieu Nature Reserve to Le Racou), 3 kilometres of rocky coastline as well as large pine forests. Within sight of the town of Collioure, the resort is very popular during the summer.
