Chateaubriand described Aigues-Mortes as a “man-o-war ship”. Stranded in the middle of a land of ponds, saltworks, marshes and canals, the town founded by Saint Louis opens up behind impressive ramparts.

Protected from the salt winds, it seems to have withstood the ravages of time. You will enjoy walking through the chequered streets, typical of the new towns of the Middle Ages.
